How to Brew the Perfect Cup of Coffee

How to Brew the Perfect Cup of Coffee

One easy way to save money is to cut back on the daily coffee runs to your local coffee shop. Brewing your own coffee at home is easy and allows you to fully customize your cup of coffee. Brewing a great cup of coffee is easier than you think, and our brewmasters at Lavie Coffee have compiled some guidelines to produce the best cup of coffee.

  1. Start with High Quality Coffee Beans

You cannot expect to cook a gourmet meal using materials found at a dollar store. The same concept applies to coffee beans. Lavie Coffee has the highest quality of beans available. We ship out our beans the same day that they are roasted, and we hand-select our beans for optimal quality. Using coffee beans that have sat on a shelf for months will not produce the same flavor profile as freshly roasted ones shipped straight to your door.

  1. Store Your Beans Properly

Coffee beans should be kept in a dry and dark location. Most importantly, the beans need to be stored in an airtight container. Coffee beans absorb any moisture that is in the air, and this will cause your coffee to go stale. We recommend purchasing a burr grinder to grind your own coffee beans. Pre-ground coffee does not stay fresh as long as whole coffee beans. However, if you do not have a grinder that is not a problem! Lavie Coffee has both whole bean coffee and pre-ground coffee available.

  1. Use the Correct Grind Size

There are several methods for brewing coffee. Each brewing method has its ideal grind size. Using the wrong grind size will result in poor-tasting coffee and could even allow grounds to pass through a filter and make it into your cup of coffee.

  1. Find the Right Type of Bean

The two most common commercial coffee plant varieties are Arabica and Robusta. The Robusta is a lower quality coffee plant that has a stronger and more bitter taste. However, Robusta beans have double the caffeine of Arabica beans. On the other hand, Arabica beans are of higher quality and have a more complex flavor profile. Look for 100% Arabica beans for a better-tasting cup of coffee.
